My Printer Won't Print β What Do I Do?
Printer problems always seem to happen at the worst time. Before you panic, here's a quick troubleshooting guide from TechTrend's printer repair experts in Bhandup.
Quick Fixes
1. Check the Basics
- Is the printer turned on?
- Is it connected (USB or Wi-Fi)?
- Is there paper in the tray?
- Is there enough ink/toner?
3. Set as Default Printer Go to Settings β Devices β Printers β right-click your printer β Set as Default. Sometimes Windows switches to "Microsoft Print to PDF" silently.
4. Clear the Print Queue A stuck print job blocks everything behind it. Open the print queue, cancel all documents, and try again.
5. Run the Printer Troubleshooter Windows has a built-in troubleshooter: Settings β Update & Security β Troubleshoot β Printer.
6. Update or Reinstall Printer Driver Visit your printer manufacturer's website and download the latest driver. Or remove the printer from Devices and re-add it.
7. Check for Paper Jams Open all access panels and look for torn paper bits. Even a tiny piece can cause jams.
8. Check Ink/Toner Levels Low or empty cartridges cause faded or blank prints. Replace with genuine cartridges for best results.
When It's a Hardware Issue
If none of these steps work, the problem might be:
- Failed print head (inkjet)
- Fuser unit failure (laser)
- Feed roller wear
- Mainboard malfunction
